Earlier this week I had a moment where I was completely at ease, and immediately associated the feeling with the absence of STRESS . . . it was pure bliss! Don't get me wrong, there is plenty of stress that comes with being unemployed and trying to start my own business - but the difference is that it is my stress, not stress associated with making money and turning in billable hours for someone else. Which then begs the question, "Why did I do it for so long?"
The simple answer is FEAR. And lots of it. If I had to choose one thing that kept me shackled to a job that wasn't bringing me joy - it was this: How in the world would I pay for my own medical benefits? <--- It's no joke! That particular fear kept me planted solidly in my last two jobs. As it turns out, I paid my first monthly premium for medical benefits this week, and I lived to tell about it! Yes it's expensive and no the benefits aren't great . . . but writing the check makes me positively giddy - because I know I've conquered something that kept me paralyzed for so long.
This weeks questions (2!) are: How does fear keep me from what I really want? And . . . What is one thing I can do this week that will bring me closer to my dreams?*
Take some time to meditate on these questions - in a quiet place with your favorite journal and pen, or while you knit or spend time in your garden . . . wherever is best to nurture yourself for 15-30 minutes.
