After I made that graphic I thought "Wow - it kind of looks like I'm doing a review on MY BOOK!" Not today folks. While there may be a book waiting to be written somewhere in my head/heart - I'm not there quite yet. Sorry about that!
Instead what I'm sharing with you today is a list of favorite books I've read over the last year - while I was mostly unemployed and growing my Life Coaching business . . . I hope you'll enjoy! (Oh and this is where I get to remind you I'm an Amazon Affiliate ---> which is there in the sidebar too, and that if you click through and purchase - I might make a few pennies. Thanks!)
1. Year of Yes - Shonda Rhimes
The Sub-Heading of this book reads, "How to Dance it Out, Stand in the Sun, and Be Your Own Person", and chronicles one year in the life of Shonda Rhimes (writer of Grey's Anatomy, Private Practice & Scandal) as she stops saying NO to everything, and starts living a life of YES. I felt so inspired after reading this book . . . love love loved it! Go Get it!
2. The Big Leap - Gay Hendricks
So here's a little secret - I told all my Life Coaching clients that they should read this book . . . before I read it. Oops! And then last Fall I decided to take the "Big Leap" myself and jumped in with both feet. And guess what? I still highly recommend it (ha!) - and particularly love the way Hendricks describes our different zones (Incompetence, Competence, Excellence, and Genius), and what can happen when we focus our energies on doing only what is in our Zone of Genius. So Good!
3. Thank and Grow Rich - Pam Grout
This was recommended to me by MY Life Coach (Yes it's true, even Coaches need their own Coach!), as a way to navigate what seemed to be a stumbling block around attaching some panicky energy to good financial flow - or lack thereof. So far I am loving Pam Grout's lighthearted approach and I've already started being more grateful about everything, even though I haven't started implementing the exercises yet. Highly Recommend.
4. The Art of Non-Conformity - Chris Guillebeau
Here's what I loved most about this book: Even though I'm not trying to start a non-profit to bring clean drinking water to remote parts of Africa, or quite my job to be a travel blogger . . . the big take-away for me is that my life and the way I choose to make money doesn't have to look a certain way. If you're looking to do something different (i.e. make a living with multiple streams of income!), give this book a read - I think you'll like it!
5. The Crossroads of Should & Must - Elle Luna
As a creative person (I'm a photographer!), this is another book that I suggest all of my clients pick up. It's a quick read sprinkled with brightly colored graphics and has a great message about pursuing work that you love, whether you identify as being creative or not. Two Thumbs Up!
Of course I bought more than five books in the last year - these are just the ones that I found to be really insightful and helpful on my journey. Aaaannnd - here's a look at what's "on deck":
Raise Your Vibration: 111 Practices to Increase Your Spiritual Connection - Kyle Gray
Overcoming Underearning - Barbara Stanny
Zero Limits: The Secret Hawaiian System for Wealth, Health, Peace and More
Write it Down, Make it Happen - Henriette Anne Klauser
Writing Down Your Soul - Janet Conner
Yes there are more . . . and I'll save them for another day!
If you have a chance to read any of these titles (or if you already have!), I'd love to know what you think . . . leave a comment or send me note!
Love and Light,
